SullyActive by ShonaquipSE

The SullyActive is a lightweight, self-propelling posture-support wheelchair designed for children who want independence but still need proper stability, positioning and safety. Built for daily life indoors and outdoors, it performs well on pavements, parks, playgrounds and uneven paths. Fully adjustable and modular, it grows with the child and supports changing needs over time.

Key Features

  • Active self propulsion: Large rear wheels and smooth bearings reduce effort, giving real independence.
  • Stable and safe: Long wheelbase, wide stance and anti-tip support keep the chair steady even during reaching and play.
  • Strong posture support: Adjustable seating, backrest and straps support spine, pelvis and hips for comfort and alignment.
  • Grows with the child: Seat width, depth, height, footrests and back support adjust as the child develops.
  • Rugged outdoor performance: Tough frame and tyres handle mixed terrain confidently.
  • Transport friendly: Quick release wheels and folding frame make storage and car transport easy.
  • Fully modular: Compatible with Shonaquip supports including headrests, lateral supports, trays and pelvic stabilisers.

Who This Helps

Ideal for children who have some upper body strength and want to move independently, but need extra support for posture, balance or stability.

  • Children who can self propel, or are learning to.
  • Children who need stable outdoor mobility.
  • Children who fatigue quickly in standard wheelchairs.
  • Children who need better positioning to prevent leaning, sliding or discomfort.
  • Families needing one chair that adapts as their child grows.

Conditions Supported

Commonly recommended by therapists for children with:

  • Cerebral palsy.
  • Spina bifida.
  • Muscular dystrophy.
  • Developmental delay.
  • Low trunk control or postural instability.
  • Balance or coordination difficulties.
  • Neurological conditions affecting movement.
  • Orthopaedic conditions needing stable hip, pelvis or leg alignment.

Why It Matters

A chair without proper support can cause pain, poor posture, low confidence and reduced participation. The SullyActive combines correct seating with an active, easy to handle frame so children can explore, learn, play and join in with everyday life safely and comfortably.
